"To him be glory both now and forever." – 2 Peter 3:18
Heaven will be filled with unending praise—not just for eternity, but for all who have gone before us, now standing in His presence. We long for that day. We ache for the reunion, for the moment when every tear will be wiped away, and sorrow will be no more. Our hearts yearn to be with the ones we have lost, to join them in the everlasting song.
But even as we wait, we are called to glorify Him now.
It is easy to look ahead and long for heaven, where grief will be no more, but what about today? What does it mean to glorify Him in the midst of loss, in the ache of an empty chair, in the weight of a sorrow that does not lift?
If your heart is broken, glorify Him in your trust. If your world feels empty, glorify Him in your longing. If the pain feels unbearable, glorify Him by bringing it to His feet, by clinging to His promises even when you do not understand.
He does not ask you to ignore your grief—only to bring it to Him. To declare, even through tears, that He is still worthy. That He is still good. That one day, He will make all things new.
Let Spurgeon's prayer be our's today and everyday until we join the saints above:
"Lord, help me to glorify Thee;
I am poor; help me to glorify thee by contentment;
I am sick; help me to give thee honour by patience;
I have talents; help me to extol thee by spending them for Thee;
I have time; Lord, help me to redeem it, that I may serve Thee;
I have a heart to feel; Lord, let that heart feel no love but thine, and glow with no flame but affection for thee;
I have a head to think; Lord, help me to think of Thee and for Thee;
Thou hast put me in this world for something; Lord, show me what that is, and help me to work out my life-purpose: I cannot do much; but as the widow put in her two mites, which were all her living, so, Lord, I cast my time and eternity too into thy treasury; I am all thine; take me, and enable me to glorify Thee now, in all that I say, in all that I do, and with all that I have." (Morning & Evening, February 15)
Go in peace to love and serve our Lord today,
Dawn
